Oolong tea is traditionally a semi-fermented tea. Oolong tea is not only as clear and fragrant as green tea, but also as refreshing and strong as black tea. Oolong tea, the natural aroma may linger in your mouth and quenches thirst. In the recent years a lightly-fermented Oolong has been introduced, its fermentation can be as little as 10%.
All historical records indicate that Fujian is the origin location of Oolong tea. The name of “Oolong” is also a enigma to Chinese tea history. The pinyin for “Oolong” is “Wu Long” which means “black dragon” which traditionally taken as the Chinese lucky indication. Oolong Tea is helpful in anti-aging, bringing high blood pressure down, improving immunocompentence, anti-heart-disease etc. Oolong also enhances the digestive system. Anxi Oolong Tea: Anxi Oolong tea comes from the famous Oolong producting area- Anxi County, which located in Fujian Province. Because Oolong tea can be heavily oxidized or lightly oxidized, its flavor will vary from quite green to near-black. Lightly-fermented green Oolong tea is deeply green in appearance, with flowery aroma, mellow and brisk taste. Semi-fermented Oolong tea is of rufous appearance with fruity aroma, mellow and thick taste. Both types are good for multiple infusions of 6-7 times or more. Da Hong Pao (Big Red Tunic) Da Hong Pao Oolong tea grown in the cliff of the wuyi mountain in Fujian Province. The average altitude of Wuyi mountain is about 650 meters. There are 36 graceful peaks and 99 famous crags. Da Hong Pao is a myth of Chinese tea, since so many mythic stories about it. The “True” Da Hong Pao is nearly impossible to gain. The original Da hong pao is made from the tea plants which grown in a cliff in wuyi mountain. The location of the cliff is named “ Nine Dragon Cave” Throughout the year, the transudatory fountain from crevices between rocks nourish the four “ da hong pao” tea plants which survive after one thousand years. Da hong pao plants in the natural peerless production. Da hong Pao are greenish brown in colour. The orange tea liquid come with strong floral fragrance. Even after nine infusions, the floral fragrance like sweet-scented osmanthus still remain. The Da Hong Pao tea available in tea market is the second, third or fourth generation of the original trees called Xiao Hong Pao (Little Red Tunic). |
